Ingredients for Sambal sauce
- Fresh chile de arbol pepper seeds
- Dried chili de arbol pepper seeds — soaked.
- Dried shrimp — soaked.
- Shallots
- Garlic
- Salt
- Belacan — optional.
Ingredients for Sambal seafood (in this case, squid)
- Squid
- Chopped onion
- Soy sauce
- Sambal sauce
- Salt
- Green onion
- Lemon or lime juice
Instructions
Instructions for Sambal Sauce
- Blend ingredients with blender.
- Heat pot with a generous amount of oil at low heat, and add the blended mix. The amount of oil should be slightly more than the amount of the mix.
- Cook and constantly stir for about 10 minutes.
Instructions for Sambal Squid
- Boil the squid for 5-8 minutes.
- Heat pan with Sambal sauce.
- Add the onion and squid.
- Fry for about 5-10 minutes.
- Add soy sauce, salt, & lemon juice.
- Sprinkle the chopped green onion over it.
